I have been keeping and breeding pet reptiles for 5 years now and over these years i have gained a lot of knowledge and experience all about what is needed to keep your pet reptile in good health and what you also need to do to keep them happy.
You will find that a lot of information on this site is related to the reptile pet supplies products and how they will help in you pet reptiles setup as this really the most improtant part of keeping reptiles as you need to make sure that you re-create their natural environment which often means keeping the vivarium at a set temperature and you also need to make sure that you have the right lighting setup as all reptiles will need a UVB florescent light in their tank to ensure they get the correct amount of sun light every day.
Once you have got your reptile tank or vivarium setup correctly you have pretty much done all the hard work and the next part of the setup is to add some reptile accessories within the vivarium as again you need to re-create the pet reptiles natural environment. The main items you need are a food bowl, a water bowl, and some branches and logs for the reptile to climb and bask on. There are many different items that you can use to recreate your pet reptiles natural environment but the best thing to do if find out what they would have had in the native country and then try to re-create that place as close as you possibly can. Most of the time this will just consist of vines, branches, logs, artificial plants, rocks and sometimes sand or soil as the main floor covering substrate.
You will find that reptile keeping is lots of fun and reptiles are in fact pretty intelligent and become very interactive with their owners so you will find that over time you will infact gain a very good friend. I often have a few lizards lined up on the couch watching tv with me..
All in all once you have got the right setup and your reptile has had a chance to settle in you will find that pet reptiles are very easy to keep healthy and happy and infact they are very clean pets to keep and as long as you feed them some livefood and fresh greens and give them fresh water everyday then all that is left to do is to interact with them.
